For Relieving Irritation, Elicit Natural Delight (FRIEND) Part I
Posted: Nov 02, 2010 |Comments: 0 | Share Syndicate this Article Copy to clipboardThat title suits someone I know and he transferred the same energy to me. We both work as remodeling contractors in Portland but coming from New Jersey, it was hard making new friends whom you can put your trust on. But he was different. A brother from another mother, he truly gave me home away from home.
His name is Conrad, an expert home remodeling Portland contractor. This guy is humbly living with a Lamborghini and a mansion somewhere in Nebraska. From the looks of it, he got everything he needs and definitely too much of his wants. He also trains in a company to guys and girls who want to make a simple and legal living. In short, his money is overflowing like the Niagara Falls.
Something cool I like about him is that he makes people around him feel comfortable. Maybe his status makes him sociable but there is really an element of relaxation when he is around. And he gave me more than that.
Since I'm the new guy in town, I try my best to be warm and cautious about my words so as not to offend anyone since I'm trying to win people here. I have to admit that Conrad is a bit intimidating during his lecture on Style class he conducted. I was also intimidated by the fact that most of the guys were able to pick up his instructions while I stumbled on making the same mistakes over and over again.
I took his lecture materials home and tried to learn it myself. If I couldn't perfect the simple arrangement of strategies for a style, it would take me a long time to nail a deal. Still, I couldn't understand the process of deals. I got so irritated that I threw off Conrad's material on my door. My door suddenly opened. Apparently, I forgot to lock it when I went in because of frustrations. Suddenly, a man was standing there as my door opened.
Like those you see in the movies where the good guy dramatically shows up as a door opens, Conrad was there smiling. "Did you slam the door when you saw me?" he asked. I immediately answered a, "No Sir, it was not my intention."
He smiled again and let himself in. He said I have a nice place, not noticing the materials I just threw off. I asked what his purpose was for the evening. He told me he wants to go for a drink in a near bar and since our class left our contact information, he knew where I live.
We jumped on his Lamborghini, drive to the bar, then, he changed my life.
