Why Would I Select Gift Experience Days, In Particular At The Festive Time?

The first thing to understand is that you will almost certainly be buying from an experience day merchant and it's usually a different company to the experience day provider. The providers are normally smaller, specialist companies that operate in one or a few locations, for example a racing track management company, an inside skydiving centre, a spa or spa chain, or a helicopter flight company. Probably your immediate thought is that you simply might be better off going direct with the provider but actually this is not such wise.
Firstly, experiences bought direct through a provider will usually be a similar price to individuals bought from an experience day merchant. This is because the merchant benefits from volume purchasing as well as economies of scale in sales and marketing, customer service and even the cost of insuring the people doing the experience. Secondly, if you were to book an experience with the provider but the provider goes out of business, or the person you're buying for wishes to do a different experience to the one you selected, then they are going to be stuck.
Buying from a merchant means you aren't tied to just one provider and there is scope to move to a completely different type of experience day, either for free or for a modest administrative fee. The truth is when you book a specific experience day, the voucher that comes through is oftentimes valid for any one of a series of different experiences days just like the one you wanted, although this relies on the merchant you book with.
Just what do you get whenever you buy an experience day to provide a gift? The physical thing that arrives at the delivery address is largely a voucher. Generally this will be nicely packaged as a gift item and includes some literature on the experience day that has been booked, or the choice of experiences the voucher is designed for. Sometimes these vouchers have something extra - for example I was once given a dancing experience as a gift and, apart from the voucher which entitled me to a series of lessons along at the club of my choice, this was included with a book and video so I could easily get some practice in at home.
