BMW M3 GTS is the supreme version of the current BMW M3 generation, but it seems that compared to other supreme versions from other times the GTS is not so impressive.Obviously, the car to compare M3 GTS is the famous M3 CSL, a limited edition torpedo, launched in 2003. Both version count on low weight and some extra horsepower, around 20 HP.
The harshest test for M3 GTS was the âRing, and those who tested the car were the guys at Sport Auto. So, BMW M3 GTS managed to run through the "Green Inferno" in 7 minutes and 48 seconds. The GTS was timed 2 seconds slower than Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and one second slower than Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, according to m3post.com .
Anyway if you compare BMW M3 GTS' time on The âRing with M3 CSL's one, the orange beast was only 2 seconds better than the limited edition M3 from 2003. Back then, in a test conducted by the same Sport Auto, with Horst von Saurma behind the steering wheel, CLS amazed everyone lapping the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 50 seconds. M3 CSL has 360 HP, weighs3,053 lbs, while GTS develops 444 HP with a weight of 3,210 lbs, so better numbers were expected. Compared to a standard BMW M3 coming form the same generation, M3 GTS was 17 seconds faster, which is yet impressive.
